My top three Easter candy picks:
1) Peeps. Yes, they've now infiltrated other holidays, but they'll always be Easter candy to me. I'm especially fond of the new dark chocolate dipped chicks (although Mario did point out that they look like they're sitting in a pile of their own crap). :-)
2) Cadbury Mini Eggs. Milk chocolate eggs on their own? Eh. I could totally live without them. Take those same eggs and cover them with a hard candy shell? Holy deliciousness. They're crunchy, chocolatey, and totally adorable!
3) Cadbury Creme Eggs. The crème de la crème of Easter candy. I love, love, love Cadbury Creme Eggs... well, it's more like an I have a love/hate relationship with them (I try to resist eating too many, but the Easter candy season is soooo long and they're soooo yummy!). Gooey pure sugar goodness encrusted in sweet chocolate - the perfect combination.
Honorable mention: Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs

LOOOOVE this. And I love all things cadbury. I'm a sucker for the traditional egg... but man, those mini eggs are SOOOO good. Fun post, Starr!
ReplyDeleteMini-Eggs, baby! I don't like their dark ones, though, and I usually like dark chocolate. I like the Creme Eggs as well, but can only tolerate 1 or 2 a season. I could eat Mini-Eggs all year round.
ReplyDeleteThis is, like, my perfect trifecta of candy. I love ALL these! I allow myself one bag of mini eggs per season (because you realize I'm not talking the mini bag, right?) because the bag is maybe 2 servings for me - I plow through those things. Although I may break down and have a second bag before the holiday...
ReplyDelete@Kelli: I love all things Cadbury, too! Their other candies are more widely available now, but that wasn't the case back in '99 when I first when to England - I spent 3 weeks with a massive Cadbury hangover!
ReplyDelete@Kendra: I don't like the dark ones either - the bitterness of the chocolate doesn't mix well with the candy shell.
@NKOTH: I am so with you on the mini eggs. I could knock out one of the regular sized bags in a weekend. I'm the same way with the creme eggs - I have two buy only one or two at a time. They are too dangerous to have in the house!
I love Easter Candies!!
ReplyDeleteSpiced Jelly Beans and solid Milk Chocolate bunny ears- don't know why, but the ears are always the best!
ReplyDeleteWhoppers Robins eggs. That's about it for me for easter. Husband likes peeps and Cadbury egg. (I only like the inside of the Cabbury eggs, the outside is not good chocolate.
ReplyDelete@Monkey: I'm iffy when it comes to spiced jelly beans - some are fabulous, but sooo many of them taste like licorice (even when they're not licorice flavored).
ReplyDelete@Sarah W: Oooh, I forgot about the Whoppers eggs. I haven't had those in years!
YES! Peeps all the way!!! I also love Starburst jelly beans that come out only this time of year!
ReplyDelete@Sweet and Salty SF: Oh, yes! If I'm going to eat jelly beans, they have to be the Starburst ones - they are so fruity!
