Chicago Eats: Revival Social Club

While I've spent the last five years blogging my way through the city, suburbs, nearby states, and even Mexico, I've sadly been lacking in coverage from my own neighborhood. Typically, when I go out to eat in the Andersonville/Edgewater area, it's for a relaxed meal with Mario or a catch-up session with my girlfriends. I tend to gravitate toward my 'hood favorites and then spend those meals disconnected from blogger mode (which is no small feat for me, as I automatically start composing shots the minute I walk into a restaurant!). As much as I enjoy those non-blogger meals, it means that I typically never end up sharing the fab eats in my neighborhood (despite what some far north side-phobic people may assume, there are plenty of awesome spots north of Lincoln Park!).

Located just off the Granville stop, in the space that once hosted M. Henrietta (sister restaurant to the uber-popular Andersonville spot M. Henry), Revival Social Club is one of those neighborhood hangouts that I have long neglected to share on the blog. After learning that the restaurant recently went through a bit of a transformation that led to a new bar program and a revamped menu, I knew it was finally time to get back over there (with my camera this time!) to document some of what Edgewater has to offer.

Gigi and I stopped by early one evening, snagged a few of the premium patio seats in the mini garden behind the restaurant, and immediately started working our way through the new bar menu. My favorites of the evening included the fruity Farmer's Market Lemonade with Ketel One Citroen, lemon, rhubarb syrup, and peach bitters (such a perfect patio drink!) and the spicy and potent Red Hot Summer with hibiscus-infused Milagro Blanco tequila, a chili-lime ice cube, and club soda.

When your mani matches your cocktail, you must document it! 😉

Guacamole & Chips (to keep us from getting completely wasted as we slurped our way through the cocktail after cocktail!)

In true blogger fashion, we decided to split three of the entrées so that we both could try a little of everything. First up was the Fettuccine Florentine: fettuccine sautéed with spinach and cherry tomatoes in a white wine and garlic sauce. While this dish comes sans meat, Gigi and I decided to add grilled shrimp - such a perfect choice for this light and creamy pasta!

Open wide!

After scarfing down our pasta, we moved on to the highly recommended Revival Burger: 1/2 lb grass-fed beef patty, bacon, mushrooms, caramelized onion, arugula, Manchego cheese, and lemon aioli. Not only was this burger so perfectly done, but it was also a phenomenal combination of flavors. The mild cheese and creamy aioli were set off by the sharp bite from the arugula, and the mushrooms gave it an extra kick of umami goodness. So much meaty, juicy, cheesy deliciousness!

Finally, we got to the standout of the night: Argentine Skirt Steak with chimichurri salsa, roasted potatoes, onion, corn, and asparagus. As much as we loved the burger, this dish was over the top amazing, thanks to the melt-in-your-mouth tender meat topped with the super fresh and zesty chimichurri (it's definitely a garlic-lover's sauce!). As I mentioned on Instagram, you know it was a damn good dish when you think about for over a week afterward!

Even though we were stuffed (as we totally decimated that steak!), we couldn't leave without sampling their sweets. We started out with this lovely sweet and creamy Raspberry Lemon Cheesecake, with the most delicious crumbly, buttery crust...

... and ended with their ridiculously addictive Monkey Bread. The soft little nuggets of pure happiness are drenched in a sweet and sticky bourbon caramel sauce that will leave you licking your fingers in delight. *swoon* PS: They also make for a fantastic breakfast the next morning (or a late-night snack!), so don't be afraid to order this dessert even if you think you won't finish. It's so worth it!

As always, I greatly enjoyed my meal at Revival Social Club (and yes, I love the improvements they've made to the menu); even better, Gigi proclaimed it was most definitely worth riding the train all the way up from the far south side for the meal. Yay! If you're looking for a casual, friendly environment and some seriously tasty food on the far north side, this homey neighborhood spot should be on your list!

You can try all of this deliciousness and more at Revival Social Club: 1133 W. Granville, Chicago, IL.
