Recipe: Absolut Chicago Moscow Mule

Welcome back to Thirsty Thursday! Considering I've already been to three holiday gatherings and a restaurant opening this week, the last thing I probably need is to indulge in Thirsty Thursday, but hey... 'tis the season, right?!

Not too long ago, Diana and I were lucky enough to be invited to a fantastic event hosted by Absolut Vodka at the Hubbard Inn. Not only did they serve us a wonderful brunch, but they also plowed us with all sorts of fabulous cocktails and sent us all home with beautiful bottles of the new Absolut Chicago (which we had both been coveting since Chicago Gourmet).

It was during this brunch that I discovered one of my newest favorite cocktails, all thanks to the Hubbard Inn's totally adorable bartender, Travis. The Absolut Chicago Moscow Mule is a fun play on the traditional cocktail and would make the perfect addition to any holiday gathering (or a Mad Men themed party!). If you haven't already, you can pick up at a bottle of the limited edition Absolut Chicago from Binny's or select Target locations (I recently found a few bottles at the Uptown Target)... it would also make a fantastic gift for your favorite Chicagoan (hint, hint!). ;-)

Absolut Chicago Moscow Mule

1.5 oz Absolut Chicago
1/2 oz lime juice (raw)
1/2 oz lemon juice (raw)
1/4 oz simple syrup
1 sprig rosemary
Ginger beer

1. In a drink shaker, combine vodka, lime juice, lemon juice, and syrup with ice and shake vigorously.
2. Strain into a highball glass filled with ice. Top with ginger beer and garnish with rosemary sprig.

  1. This is a great way to use the Chicago vodka. I bought a bottle after you mentioned it over the summer. It's so smooth!

  2. I'm still dreaming of that bagels and lox plate. And the drinks. The drinks! :-D

  3. Seriously! I would like to bury my face in a plate of that awesome lox... and then wash it all down with a drink (or two or three).

  4. Sounds like the kind of drink to calm down a Bear before hibernation. But I keep checking the wood pile in this -40 weather (we've got enough).

Do stay warm in this "brisk and invigorating" weather. Hope you have a great 2014.

    Blessings and (warm) Bear hugs!

  5. @Rob-bear: We were in the -30s yesterday... so not fun. :-/
    Happy 2014!
